Comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono returned to the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) building of the Indonesian National Police on Monday, 9 March 2026.

His visit was to comply with a summons from investigators regarding a report of alleged insult towards Toraja customs. He arrived in casual attire wearing a black jacket, a t-shirt with “Mens Rea” printed on it, and a black hat.

Unlike his previous visits, Pandji appeared without his legal representative, Haris Azhar, upon arrival at Bareskrim. He came only with his assistant before entering the building for examination.

“Yes, I was called today; the summons appears to be to continue the Toraja case,” he said.

Pandji explained that this examination was expected to be related to the Toraja customary trial process he underwent some time ago.

Pandji had undergone the Toraja customary trial, and was imposed sanctions including an obligation to apologise and to provide one pig and five chickens.

The customary trial was held at Tongkonan Layuk Kaero, Sangalla, Tana Toraja District, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. The customary court proceedings were solemn, involving representatives from 32 Toraja customary regions.

Pandji was present directly in the proceedings accompanied by his legal representative, Haris Azhar. The trial process was also facilitated by the Indigenous Peoples’ Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN) as part of the customary dispute resolution mechanism.

In the trial, one of the Toraja customary leaders explained that the sanctions imposed were part of a ritual apologising to ancestors and the indigenous community.

“The complement of the ritual of apologising to our ancestors is one pig and five chickens,” said one of the leaders presiding over the customary trial, as quoted from the @infotoraja Instagram account on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.

For context, the examination of comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police marks a new chapter in the controversy over the alleged insult to the Toraja people.

On Monday, 2 February 2026, Pandji visited the Bareskrim Polri building in South Jakarta to undergo examination as a suspect-witness.

During the examination, Pandji said he had to answer dozens of questions, all of which were related to his stand-up comedy material that was disputed.

“48 questions were posed to me. All regarding my stand-up material, the material in my videos,” Pandji said after the examination.
