Jakarta — Comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono is scheduled to return for questioning at the Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) on Monday, 9 March 2026 at 10:00 WIB regarding an investigation into allegations of insulting Toraja indigenous customs.

Kombes Rizki Agung Prakoso, Deputy Director of Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri, confirmed that the questioning remains scheduled as previously planned. “It is still scheduled,” Rizki told reporters on Monday, 9 March 2026.

Rizki stated that this questioning is part of the ongoing investigation into allegations of insulting Toraja indigenous customs. Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, Director of the Cyber Crime Division at Bareskrim Polri, disclosed that investigators have already questioned 14 witnesses and 9 experts to deepen their understanding of the case. “The case is progressing with Pandji. We have already questioned 14 witnesses and 9 experts. Most recently, we questioned an administrator, Pandji’s administrator, to complete information for this investigation,” Himawan said when met at National Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

According to Himawan, the legal process continues despite Pandji having previously participated in a customary indigenous hearing in Toraja, South Sulawesi. He explained that the customary hearing represents part of “living law” or law that exists within the community, but it does not invalidate the formal legal process underway at the police.

The complaint relates to material from Pandji’s stand-up comedy performance titled “Messake Bangsaku” (roughly, “My Nation’s Wealth”), delivered in 2013, which was perceived as insulting Toraja indigenous burial traditions, specifically the Rambu Solo ceremony, a significant aspect of Toraja culture. In the comedy material, Pandji discussed the Rambu Solo funeral tradition, considered a cornerstone of Toraja customs. However, some parties felt the presentation was offensive and demeaning to Toraja indigenous customs, prompting them to lodge a report with police.

Pandji previously responded to the investigator’s summons for the first time on Monday, 2 February 2026 to provide clarification regarding the comedy material.
