Combined law enforcement authorities conducted an operation to shut down illegal mining sites in Nanggung District, Bogor, West Java. A total of 18 mining pits were shut down for operating without proper licensing.

“Eighteen unlicensed mining pits (PETI) have been shut down,” said Nanggung Police Sub-district Chief AKP Ucup Supriatna on Saturday (28 February 2026).

The enforcement operation was carried out on Friday (27 February). The 18 illegal mining pits were located across four villages.

“The four villages involved were Bantar Karet, Curug Bitung, Cisarua, and Pangkal Jaya,” he said.

The operation was divided into two teams, each comprising approximately 40 personnel. One team was deployed to Cepu Block whilst the second team went to RC12 Block.

“It appears some of the sites were previously active, with some resuming activity after the previous incident,” he noted.

Patrols have been conducted to prevent casualties resulting from illegal mining activities. Evidence was also seized during the operation.

“We recovered electrical cables that were not in use and had not been properly buried underground,” he said.
