Collision Between Argo Bromo Anggrek Train and KRL Sued by Survivor, Demands Rp100 Billion in Damages
Bandung – The first hearing of a civil suit filed by a passenger of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train who survived an incident collision with a Commuter Line (KRL) in Bekasi Timur on 27 April 2026 was postponed by the Bandung District Court on Tuesday 19 May 2026. The hearing was held in Courtroom VII Ali Said at Bandung District Court, but the panel decided to postpone the session for two weeks because the defendants failed to attend. The plaintiff, Rolland Potu, lamented the absence of the defendants. He said, according to the panel, each defendant had received the court summons: ‘It is very regrettable that defendants 1, 2, 3 and 4 are not present, whereas equality before the law guarantees every citizen’s right to pursue legal redress in court when experiencing losses, whether material or immaterial.’ Rolland Potu is one of the survivors of the collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL in Bekasi Timur on 27 April 2026. The accident left 16 people dead and dozens injured. The plaintiff’s counsel, Gaesang Taufikurochman, said they hope the defendants will attend the next hearing so the legal process can proceed in accordance with applicable rules. In his complaint, Rolland sues PT Kereta Api Indonesia, PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia, and Danantara. PT Trinusa Travelindo is named as a co-defendant. The plaintiff seeks Rp750 thousand in material damages and Rp100 billion in immaterial damages. The claimed amount is to be allocated to the victims who died and those who were injured in the accident.
