Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening the national film ecosystem through a cross-sector collaborative approach. “The Ministry of Culture is committed to ensuring that the national film ecosystem grows strong and sustainable through policies that favour national films,” said Fadli Zon in a statement confirmed from Jakarta on Tuesday. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon met with the Indonesian Film Board (BPI) and Indonesian film producers in Jakarta to discuss strengthening the national film ecosystem through increased collaboration, improvements in industry governance, and sustainable policy support. He welcomed and will follow up on various inputs provided, including through coordination with relevant ministries and agencies. Indonesian film producer Linda Ghozali added that several priority issues were jointly addressed in the forum, including transparency in national film distribution data, tax policy support, and accelerating revisions to the Film Law. She emphasised that data openness is an important element in promoting accountable industry governance while increasing public literacy on national film achievements. “Data transparency is very important so that this industry can develop in a healthy manner,” said Linda. Meanwhile, renowned Indonesian producer and director Angga Dwimas Sasongko highlighted the importance of policy alignment in maintaining the momentum of national film industry growth. Angga stated that government support, particularly in regulation and distribution aspects, will greatly determine the sustainability of the industry ecosystem. “We hope for policies that can maintain this industry’s growth in a fair and sustainable manner. Such support is important so that all industry players have equal space to develop,” he said. This meeting reaffirms the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to strengthening synergy with film industry players in creating an inclusive, transparent, and sustainable ecosystem.
