Collaborating to Train Financial Literacy Ambassadors
Astra Financial, in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), has organised a Training of Trainers programme for financial literacy ambassadors, attended by at least 1,000 participants. Held at the UNY Hotel Ballroom, the event was integrated with the ‘Gerakan Cakap Keuangan’ (Financial Proficiency Movement) seminar, featuring speakers from OJK, financial practitioners, and executives from Astra Financial, a financial conglomerate under the Astra International Business Group.
“This event is a manifestation of our commitment to supporting the strengthening of financial literacy in Indonesia. We are working with various stakeholders to achieve this goal,” said Hugeng Gozali, President Director of Astra Financial, in Yogyakarta on Saturday (12/9).
Hugeng added that through this activity, 1,000 participants were inaugurated as ‘OJK Peduli’ Ambassadors, who will serve as drivers of financial literacy within the community. These participants include employees, students, village activists, and facilitators for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The event was attended by the Head of the OJK Department of Financial Literacy and Inclusion, M. Ismail Riyadi; the Head of OJK for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Eko Yunianto; and Astra Director and Director In-Charge of Astra Financial, Siswadi.
In his keynote speech, Ismail revealed that while financial inclusion in Indonesia has reached 93%, the financial literacy rate stands at only 69.57%. “The gap of more than 20% between inclusion and literacy is a challenge. This means financial literacy must be increased—not just understanding, but also knowing, followed by changes in attitude and behaviour,” he stated.
He noted that OJK highly appreciates Astra Financial’s efforts to improve financial literacy levels through training and workshops that reach more members of the community.
