Coal Sales to be Below Standard Price

| Source: TEMPO
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal director general Bambang Setiawan has said the government has indicated coal businesses paying royalties to the government to be selling coal below the standard price.

This has created concerns that the state’s revenues will decrease.

The Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal Directorate’s secretary, Wintoro Soelarno, said there were also businesses selling coal at US$5 per ton, which is way below the standard price.

In order to prevent these practices, the government has set the lowest standard prices and these will be renewed monthly.

“Therefore, with the standard prices that we publish to companies every month, we can maintain the price of coal,” said Bambang.

Each month the prices will be evaluated to determine the proper prices.

Bambang also said the standard price for each coal category would be different.
