Ciwandan Port Readiness Supports Lebaran Transportation 2026
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia Regional 2 Banten has ensured the readiness of Ciwandan Port to support smooth Lebaran Transportation in 2026. During this period, Ciwandan Port will serve as one of the key nodes functioning as an alternative crossing port for motorcycles and logistics trucks.
As part of support for Lebaran Transportation operations, Ciwandan Port has provided several main infrastructure facilities including Wharves 05A, 07, and 02. In detail, Wharf 05A has two berths approximately 403 metres long to serve large Ro-Ro vessels, Wharf 07 with one berth of 131 metres in length, and Wharf 02 with one berth of 38 metres used for small Ro-Ro vessels.
Additionally, main facilities such as vehicle buffer areas have been prepared at several locations, including Stacking Field C with capacity for approximately 2,500 motorcycles, Stacking Field B with capacity for 400 motorcycles, Stacking Fields 005 and 001 with capacity for 150 trucks or 1,500 motorcycles, and Stacking Field E functioning as a reserve buffer area for trucks with capacity of approximately 200 units.
Furthermore, supporting facilities have been prepared to ensure safety and smooth service during the Lebaran Transportation period, ranging from tugboat readiness, fire suppression units, to service facilities in the Ciwandan Port area. Pelindo Regional 2 Banten also provides service tents, portable toilets, prayer rooms, directional signage, bollards, toll gates, ambulances, workshops, fuel filling stations and UMKM areas brought in through cooperation with stakeholders to provide additional comfort for port service users.
General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 2 Banten, Benny Ariadi, stated that these various preparations are part of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten’s commitment to ensuring optimal Lebaran Transportation services. “In addition to facility readiness, we are providing service support during this year’s Lebaran Transportation period, such as pilotage, tugboat, and mooring services, as well as port pass fee exemptions at Rp0,” he concluded.
The government has diverted special crossing for class VI B logistics trucks that previously crossed through Merak Port to Ciwandan Port. A total of 21,863 motorcycles have crossed to Sumatra Island through Ciwandan Port, Cilegon, Banten, at the peak of homecoming traffic that occurred on H-3 or Friday, 28 March 2025.
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi inspected homecoming traffic at several points in the Jabodetabek region on Thursday evening (27/3) until Friday early morning (28/3). Dudy Purwagandhi directly monitored the movement of motorcycle homecomers at Ciwandan Port, Cilegon, Banten, Thursday (27/3) early morning.
To support smooth travel, homecomers are urged to ensure tickets have been purchased through the Ferizy application and arrive according to departure schedules. Unlike previous years, Free Homecoming 2026 North Sumatra provides 5,500 seats covering land transport, railways, and maritime routes.
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has instructed his ranks to consistently conduct roadworthiness inspections or ramp checks on transport modes during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation period. The Ministry of Public Works has ensured the readiness of national road infrastructure, both non-toll and toll roads, to support smooth homecoming traffic.
Maritime transport activities approaching Lebaran homecoming traffic at Sampit Port, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, are estimated to be busier this year. Pelni estimates that the peak of 2026 Lebaran homecoming traffic is expected to occur on 18 March 2026 or H-3 of Lebaran 2025, whilst the peak return traffic is on 2 April 2026.
