Civil Service Police Remove Promotional Materials for Film "I Must Die" Following Public Criticism
Jakarta, Kompas.com — The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through its Civil Service Police (Satpol PP), has regulated the promotional materials for the film “Aku Harus Mati” following public criticism.
The materials that were regulated include banners, billboards, and videotrons.
“They have been removed temporarily up to now: banners, billboards, and one videotron, so there are three,” said Head of Satpol PP DKI Jakarta, Satriadi Gunawan, when contacted by Kompas.com on Sunday (5/4/2026).
Satpol PP is still monitoring the field to ensure no similar materials remain installed.
“Well, this is also under public control, that it is not appropriate or fitting to display, because psychologically, children will be disturbed by the statement being shown,” he said.
The removal was carried out by the advertising vendors after coordinating with Satpol PP.
“So, it was done independently, not by us. We coordinated with the vendors, and alhamdulillah, they responded well. The vendors immediately took them down,” Satriadi explained.
He also invited the public to report if they find similar materials elsewhere.
“But if there are any in other places, the public can provide information to Satpol PP, or through social media channels,” he said.
Several netizens believe the advertisement could impact children who do not yet understand the film’s context.
Criticism has also emerged calling for the ad creators to pay more attention to aspects of decency and psychological impact.
