The Marine Corps of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI AL) is preparing various types of training materials, ranging from weapons to national defence, for participants in the civil servant (ASN) reserve component (Komcad) training program.

This initiative follows the Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) partnering with the 1st Marine Brigade (Pasmar I) to train the first wave of ASN Komcad members in April 2026.

Colonel Rana Karyana, Head of the Marine Corps’ Information Service, stated that they have compiled several key training modules for the ASN Komcad participants.

The modules include spiritual and ideological development, fostering a spirit of struggle, providing knowledge and skills, covering basic military regulations (drills, military salutes, military ceremonies, and military service regulations), legal knowledge, weapons knowledge, maritime knowledge, and knowledge of maritime defence areas.

Rana added that they have also prepared special Marine Corps-specific materials for the ASN Komcad participants.

These special materials will focus on instilling high discipline and loyalty, building a resilient and adaptable mindset, teaching basic survival skills and field endurance, and fostering teamwork (esprit de corps).

Rana emphasized that knowledge of teamwork is essential, even though the participants come from a civil servant background.

“We will also provide knowledge about instilling values of honour and responsibility as part of the national defence reserve component,” Rana told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday (February 27).

In addition to the training materials, Rana assured that all the best facilities, including training grounds, barracks, classrooms, and medical personnel, belonging to the Marine Corps will be deployed to support the Komcad training program.

Although the entire training concept and facilities used are based on Marine Corps standards, Rana assured that they will still adjust the training patterns for the ASN participants.

“There will be adjustments to aspects of comfort and security, considering that the participants come from the civilian sector,” Rana explained.

Rana hopes that all the facilities and training materials prepared by the Marine Corps will support the ASN Komcad training process, ensuring it runs smoothly.

Previously, the Ministry of Defence stated that 2,000 ASN who will participate in the training as Komcad members will be trained at five TNI training locations.

“The implementation of the first wave of training is planned to take place at several educational locations, including Pusdikkes, Skadik 301, Pusbahasa AU, Kodam Jaya, and Pasmar 1,” said the Head of the Defence Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, to ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday (February 26).

Rico said that the ASN will be trained on the basics of military training, both in practice and in theory.

The training process for this first wave will begin in April 2026 and will last for approximately 1.5 months.

Rico added that the Ministry of Defence has allocated a quota of 4,000 people for all ministries and agencies that want to send their ASN to participate in the Komcad training.

The first wave of training is planned for 2,000 ASN, and the second wave, with the same number, will be held in mid-2026.
