JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian has revealed that the work from home (WFH) policy of one day per week for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers now awaits instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.

“Once there is direction from the President, it will then be officially announced. Be patient, just be patient,” Tito said when met at the Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

Tito himself has no issue with ASN in the Ministry of Home Affairs and local governments (pemda) implementing WFH one day per week. He mentioned that the government has experience implementing a similar work system during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He will also provide explanations to regional heads regarding the WFH policy.

“Essential matters such as transportation, those serving emergencies, hospitals, cleanliness, must continue to operate,” Tito added.

Nevertheless, Tito declined to reveal further details about this one-day WFH policy, including which day will be selected.

The government has assured that the planned implementation of the one-day-per-week WFH scheme will not apply to all work sectors.

Minister Secretary of State (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that this policy applies to certain fields that allow remote work.

He said that the policy related to WFH one day per week is still being formulated.

“We are currently refining it to finalise and will convey it to the public as soon as possible,” he said.

“As conveyed by the President during the full cabinet plenary session, we are formulating several policies in order to begin realising that we all must collectively make ourselves more efficient in working,” Prasetyo added.
