The City of Magelang has secured first place for the best performance in implementing Minimum Service Standards (SPM) at the Central Java provincial level in the city category, with a score of 99.00 based on the results of the 2024 SPM Award.

Mayor of Magelang Damar Prasetyono, in Magelang on Monday, expressed appreciation for this achievement to all civil servants (ASN), regional device organisations (OPD), and the community that continue to support government administration.

The award was presented by Central Java Governor Ahmad Lutfi on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Regional Autonomy Day in Semarang.

He stated that this achievement is inseparable from the city government’s commitment to delivering programmes directly oriented towards community needs.

“We have 19 flagship programmes oriented directly towards public services, based on community aspirations and needs. Public service for public trust,” he said.

He explained that community participation is key through bottom-up development planning mechanisms, such as village development planning consultations (musrenbang) down to the neighbourhood level (RT).

This award is the first one achieved by the City of Magelang at the Central Java provincial level. Previously, at the national level, the City of Magelang had secured second place in the city category for reporting in 2021 and tenth place in 2022.

According to him, this success is supported by various efforts, including routine coordination to strengthen commitment and understanding of service standards, as well as periodic monitoring and evaluation of indicators that have not yet been achieved along with their obstacles.

Central Java Governor Ahmad Lutfi explained that development planning and budgeting must be aligned between the central, provincial, and regency/city governments, through a top-down and bottom-up approach such as musrenbang.

“Regions need to build fiscal independence by developing regional potential without sectoral egos, and strengthen inter-regional cooperation,” he said.

He stated that the province plays a role as a coordinator to ensure even development, including reducing disparities between regions such as the South Coast and North Coast.

“Public services are no longer oriented towards administration, but must provide real benefits to the community. ASN and bureaucracy are essentially serving the people,” he said.
