City of Bontang Records Significant Surge Throughout 2025
Bontang, VIVA - The City of Bontang is increasingly trusted by investors, both domestic and foreign. This was stated by the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) of Bontang City, Muhammad Aspian Nur.
Investment performance in Bontang City throughout 2025 showed achievements that exceeded targets and reflected a positive growth trend. Based on data from the Bontang City DPMPTSP, investment realisation reached Rp3.08 trillion, or 123.23% of the Rp2.5 trillion target.
This achievement also increased by 13.66% compared to the 2024 realisation. This is seen as an indicator of growing investor confidence in the business climate in the region. According to Muhammad Aspian Nur, these results are the fruit of collective efforts in creating ease of doing business and service certainty for investors.
“Investment realisation in 2025 that exceeded the target shows that Bontang City is increasingly trusted by investors, both domestic and foreign,” he said on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
Of the total investment, Aspian said, Domestic Investment (PMDN) still dominates with a value of Rp3.026 trillion, while Foreign Investment (PMA) was recorded at Rp54.11 billion.
“Although the PMA contribution is relatively small, this sector still plays a role in driving development in several strategic fields,” he stated.
This investment realisation comes from 323 projects run by 81 non-SME business actors. This shows fairly dynamic investment activity in Bontang, although the compliance rate for reporting investment activities is still at 43.69%, which is a note for local government evaluation.
“In the PMA sector, investments are dominated by the housing, industrial estates, and office sectors, as well as hotels and restaurants,” he added.
Meanwhile, for PMDN, the processing industry sector is the largest contributor, particularly the basic chemical industry, chemical products, and pharmaceuticals, which reached 85.96%.
In addition, the trade and repair sector, basic metal industry, other services, and hotels and restaurants also contribute to the local investment structure.
The dominance of the chemical industry reinforces Bontang’s position as one of the strategic industrial areas in East Kalimantan, while also showing developments in the services sector that are beginning to grow along with increasing investment activity.
