A joint enforcement team conducted a targeted operation in the Boker Ciracas area, East Jakarta, on Friday night, 7 March 2026. During the operation, officers seized dozens of bottles of alcoholic beverages and detained seven women suspected of being sex workers. ‘Indeed. From last night’s operation, our total for alcohol is 29 bottles of various types. As for the screening results from PPKS (Pemerlu Pelayanan Kesejahteraan Sosial), there are seven women suspected of being sex workers and one man,’ said Ciracas sub-district head Panangaran Ritonga, on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

He said the operation was part of an effort to create a conducive environment during Ramadhan so that residents could observe their worship comfortably. ‘So that our brothers and sisters who observe worship are not overly disturbed. Whether by things that trouble the eyes or the heart,’ he added.

Ritonga noted that the raids followed reports on social media that night-time activity around the area continued as usual. The area around GOR Ciracas has often been a gathering place for people because of the many street vendors along the wall of that area. Ritonga added that some people used the situation to solicit themselves or sell alcohol. ‘Around GOR, along the wall, there are many street sellers; this has become a hangout for both those soliciting and those selling alcohol. It appears that social disorder in the Ciracas area around GOR Ciracas remains active,’ he said.

Ritonga said the raid was carried out to deliver a deterrent effect to the perpetrators. Eight people detained in the operation will subsequently be taken to a social welfare home for further handling. Going forward, the district authorities plan to increase the frequency of enforcement at the site to prevent similar activities, especially during Ramadhan. ‘We will likely take them to a social welfare centre for further handling. In the future, we will increase the frequency of enforcement activities,’ Ritonga added.
