Ciputat Flyover Road Damaged, South Tangerang City Government Coordinates with Ministry of PUPR
The South Tangerang City Government (Tangsel) has stated that it has taken proactive steps to coordinate with the central government to promptly repair the damage on the Ciputat Flyover. This action was taken in response to residents’ independent repair efforts on the vital route due to the road conditions deemed dangerous for drivers.
The Head of the Communication and Informatics Department (Diskominfo) of Tangsel, TB Asep Nurdin, appreciated the social control and community spirit of mutual cooperation. However, he provided education that permanent handling of the overpass is beyond the authority of the City Budget (APBD).
“We fully understand the residents’ concerns. It needs to be conveyed that the Ciputat Flyover is part of the National Road. By regulation, the maintenance and repair authority lies with the central government through the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR),” said Asep in his statement on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
Asep explained that this limitation of authority is not an evasion of responsibility, but compliance with state financial governance. The use of City Budget funds for national assets has strict legal restrictions.
Nevertheless, the South Tangerang City Government emphasised that it is not standing idle. Official communications and demand letters have been sent multiple times to the central level to realise permanent repairs as soon as possible.
“The South Tangerang City Government has conducted intensive coordination and communication. We have outlined the points that require immediate handling for the safety of drivers. However, we must admit that so far there has been no progress or physical realisation on the ground from the ministry,” Asep revealed.
Considering the high mobility and accident risks on that route, Mayor Benyamin Davnie has instructed relevant department officials to take proactive action by going to Jakarta. The South Tangerang City Government is committed to continuing to monitor so that the Ciputat Flyover repairs enter the national work priority list this year.
“The Mayor has instructed to immediately follow up again. We will request clarity on the repair schedule so that the community gets certainty. We do not want the existing damage to worsen and endanger residents’ safety,” Asep stressed.
