Cipali Toll Road Sees 41,000 Vehicles Ahead of Eid
Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, mudik traffic on the Trans-Java toll road network has begun to rise, with thousands of vehicles using the toll road as the primary route to their hometowns. The operator of the Cikopo-Palimanan Toll Road (Cipali) recorded approximately 41,000 vehicles passing through this section over eight hours on Thursday morning, 19 March 2026. The data covers the period from 00:00 WIB to 08:00 WIB, from the former Cikopo Toll Gate towards Cirebon. According to Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Head of Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications at Astra Tol Cipali, one-way traffic flow on the Cipali toll road was observed to be consistently busy but smooth on Thursday morning, despite slowdowns at several points. “For the analysis of the causes of slowdowns at several points on Thursday morning, after identification, the condition occurred due to an increase in the number of vehicles stopping on the road shoulder,” he explained. The number of vehicles passing during that period increased by around 1% compared to the previous day, with an average volume of 5,200 vehicles per hour. In handling vehicles experiencing issues, Astra Tol Cipali personnel along with police continue to provide on-site assistance. Ardam also reminded road users not to rest on the road shoulder, as it poses a significant safety risk. “We strongly advise road users to utilise the nearest toll gate as an alternative resting place if rest area capacity is full,” he added. He stressed that resting outside the toll road area incurs no additional cost, as the closed transaction system on the Trans-Java toll network calculates tariffs based on travel distance (accumulation per kilometre). Astra Tol Cipali also urged all road users to prepare their journeys thoroughly, ensure physical fitness, and confirm vehicles are in prime condition before starting the trip. These steps are considered essential to ensure that the mudik journey ahead of Eid proceeds safely, smoothly, and comfortably for all travellers.
