Cilegon Mayor Affirms Government's Role as Facilitator in PT Chandra Asri Alkali Partnership
CILEGON – Cilegon Mayor Robinsar has affirmed that the government's role in its cooperation with PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) is solely to serve as a bridge between the company's operational needs and local businesses. He made the statement following a deliberation meeting on the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) with the Cilegon Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) on Monday (23/6/2025).
"We are only facilitating. The city government is not here to divide up portions or share out the cake. We are simply bridging what CAA needs so that it can be confirmed by local entrepreneurs. The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) is handling the communication," Robinsar said on Monday (25/6/2025).
He explained that DPMPTSP has already established communication with CAA as well as the Cilegon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). The communication was conducted to ensure the cooperation follows prevailing regulations and standards.
"We've been in touch with CAA. Previously, PTSP's Bu Nufus had already communicated with Kadin to ensure everything follows the applicable rules and the standardisation expected by CAA," he explained.
However, Robinsar acknowledged that communication has not yet reached all business associations, noting that discussions have so far only involved parties representing certain groups. "Not with all entrepreneurs yet — only those who are representative," he said.
Robinsar added that the city government would continue to oversee the process. Should local companies still find themselves excluded despite meeting the requirements, his administration would open a line of communication with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM RI).
"We will follow through if, after we have taken the necessary steps, local companies are still not included. But if all requirements have been met and they are still not in, then we will try to communicate with BKPM RI as well," he said.
He also noted that the city government would follow the working pattern set by CAA as long as all conditions have been fulfilled. "We will follow CAA's pattern. If everything has been met, they should be included — perhaps the only remaining consideration would be pricing," he concluded.
