Cilegon City Government in Banten has facilitated approximately 2,000 residents for free mudik to various regions across Java and Sumatra through the Full Blessing Free Mudik Programme.

Cilegon Mayor Robinsar stated in an official statement on Monday that the free mudik initiative demonstrates the local government’s concern for the community and represents the result of collaboration with various industrial stakeholders.

“We are dispatching 50 buses carrying more than 2,000 free mudik passengers provided by Cilegon City Government. We wish to express our gratitude to all industries, including state-owned enterprises, regional enterprises, and private enterprises, which have contributed to providing free mudik buses this year,” he said.

On the occasion, Mayor Robinsar hoped that mudik participants would travel safely and return to Cilegon in good health.

Meanwhile, Heri Suheri, Head of Cilegon City’s Transportation Department, disclosed that this year’s free mudik programme was implemented through an online registration system equipped with barcodes as proof of departure.

“This year represents an adjustment for the public since registration is conducted online, and the proof document for boarding the bus uses barcodes. However, each bus has a point of contact from our office who is ready to assist the public,” he explained.

Heri advised mudik participants to note their drop-off points and look after their belongings throughout the journey until they reach their home towns.

One mudik participant, Wulandari, a resident of Rawa Arum District who will travel to Blitar, East Java, found the online registration system more practical than in previous years.

“Registration through the online application is more efficient and practical compared to the offline method of previous years, and it avoids the long queues like last year,” she said.

“We also wish to thank the Mayor for facilitating free mudik; this is very helpful in saving costs,” she added.
