Cilegon City Government Distributes Revolving Funds to SMEs
The City Government of Cilegon, through the Dinas Koperasi dan UKM (Department of Cooperatives and SMEs), disbursed revolving funds to 48 business operators or mentored partners as part of supporting the development of new entrepreneurship in the region. The distribution was carried out at the Revolving Fund Management Unit’s Sub-Regional Offices 1 and 2 on Friday, 6 March 2026. Suhendi, head of the City of Cilegon’s Department of Cooperatives and SMEs, said the revolving fund distribution programme is part of the local government’s commitment to support the Mayor of Cilegon’s programme to create 5,000 new entrepreneurs in Cilegon. He added the programme is expected to encourage the community to start and develop businesses, thereby creating jobs and boosting regional economic growth. One of the main obstacles faced by business actors is limited capital. Therefore, the government is present through the revolving fund programme as tangible support for the community with entrepreneurial spirit. He hopes recipients will utilise the opportunity to develop their businesses productively and sustainably. Meanwhile, Heryati, head of the SMEs division of the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs, reminded that capital alone is not enough to develop a business. Legitimacy of the business is also an important aspect that must be possessed by MSMEs to ensure the business has a solid legal basis. With an official business licence, MSMEs will find it easier to access various government programmes, obtain financing from financial institutions, and increase consumer trust in the business. She added that the government has now facilitated business licensing through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system. Through this system, business operators can obtain a Business Identification Number (NIB) with a faster and simpler process. The City of Cilegon’s Department of Cooperatives and SMEs is also ready to help and facilitate MSME operators in the process of obtaining business licences. At the same occasion, Siti Maheli, head of the UPTD Revolving Fund Management, said the revolving fund programme is one of the local government’s efforts to provide easier access to capital for micro and small enterprises. “We hope the funds distributed today can be used optimally to develop ongoing businesses, boost production capacity, and expand business opportunities,” she said. She also emphasised that the revolving fund is not merely aid, but a mandate that must be managed well so that it can continue to be utilised by other business operators. “Therefore we urge all beneficiaries to use this fund wisely and to fulfil the repayment obligations in a timely and orderly manner,” she concluded.
