Cilacap Refinery Maximises Operations Ahead of Idul Fitri, Ensuring Secure Supply
Pertamina Cilacap Refinery in Central Java is ensuring energy supply for the public during Ramadan and ahead of Idul Fitri 2026, with supply security maintained. This is supported by optimising refinery operations and strengthening stockpiles of petroleum products to anticipate rising consumption. Area Manager Communications, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga RU IV Cilacap, Agustiawan, said Cilacap Refinery continues to raise operational readiness to safeguard national energy supply resilience during Ramadan and Idul Fitri. ‘To anticipate higher BBM demand, Cilacap Refinery has increased stocks by optimising refinery operations that run 24 hours a day,’ Agustiawan said on Sunday (8/3).
Besides ensuring smooth production, Pertamina monitors various global developments that could affect energy supply chains. One example is the dynamics of conflicts that affect tanker routes in the Hormuz Strait. Agustiawan explained that Pertamina continues to coordinate with many parties, including ministries and related agencies, Indonesian representatives abroad, and international partners. This is done to anticipate various possibilities while safeguarding human safety and the security of company assets. ‘Pertamina is also preparing a number of mitigation steps to maintain national energy supply resilience, including optimising sources from both domestic and international routes,’ he added.
Separately, Pertamina urged the public to use BBM prudently and not to purchase excessively. ‘We invite the public to use fuel efficiently and not to panic buy, as stock is guaranteed safe and distribution is being carried out in an orderly manner,’ he said. Pertamina also reminded people not to hoard BBM as such acts violate applicable laws. Agustiawan expressed appreciation to all stakeholders and the public who have supported smooth energy distribution. (E-2)
The panic buying phenomenon observed in Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, was noted. In the face of increasing complexity of national energy distribution, strengthening fleet standards has become a strategic requirement inseparable from energy supply continuity. Disruptions occur not only in distribution networks in residential areas but also affect key infrastructure underpinning the inter-regional electricity system. Pertamina Patra Niaga JBB serves the needs of BBM and LPG in three main provinces, namely Banten, DKI Jakarta, and West Java. The DPR RI has increased oversight of energy supply readiness ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations (Nataru).
