Cilacap District Government Prepares 18 Buses for Free Homecoming Programme
The Cilacap District Government in Central Java has prepared 18 buses to support the free Lebaran homecoming and return migration programme. A total of 864 seats have been allocated for migrants from Cilacap, with routes to and from Jakarta and Bandung.
The programme forms part of the district’s contribution to the Central Java Provincial Government’s free homecoming agenda. The Cilacap District Government has partnered with various stakeholders and businesses to expand the capacity for outbound migrants. At the regency and city level in Central Java, Cilacap’s allocation is recorded as the largest.
Sukaryanto, Head of the Cilacap District Transportation Office, explained that of the total 18 buses prepared, four units are financed through the district budget. The remaining 14 units represent contributions from stakeholders and businesses. “In total there are 18 buses with a capacity of 864 seats. Four units from the district budget and 14 from stakeholders. This is the largest number in Central Java at the regency and city level,” he stated.
For the homecoming journey, the Cilacap District Government has prepared six buses on the Jakarta–Cilacap route and seven buses on the Bandung–Cilacap route. For the return migration journey, three buses on the Cilacap–Jakarta route and two buses on the Cilacap–Bandung route are provided.
The departure of free homecoming participants from Jakarta is scheduled to take place at the Museum Purnabakti, in the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah area, on 16 March 2026. Meanwhile, departures from Bandung will be carried out at PT Dirgantara Indonesia on the same day at 15:00 WIB.
For the return migration journey, participants will depart from the Cilacap Transportation Office on Saturday, 28 March 2026. The route to Jakarta is scheduled to depart at 08:00 WIB, whilst the Bandung route departs at 09:00 WIB, before continuing the journey towards Bulupitu Terminal.
Sukaryanto emphasised that all vehicles used are tour buses with a maximum age of five years. The vehicles are ensured to be roadworthy, possess complete licences, and meet safety standards. “Vehicle requirements include a maximum age of five years, two-by-two seating, prime condition and complete licences. Safety is the main priority,” he explained.
In addition to free transport facilities, participants also receive meals during the journey, including food for breaking the fast. All vehicle costs include support for these logistics.
The seat allocation breakdown is as follows: 288 seats for the Jakarta–Cilacap route and 336 seats for the Bandung–Cilacap route. For the return migration journey, 144 seats are available for the Cilacap–Jakarta route and 96 seats for the Cilacap–Bandung route. The total overall capacity reaches 864 seats.
