Cikeas Village Grows with BRI: SME Digitalisation and Egg-Laying BUMDes
The story of Cikeas Village’s participation in the Desa BRILiaN programme began with BRI’s visit that identified the village’s potential for SME digitalisation. The village enthusiastically accepted the programme offer as it provided a platform to strengthen its identity.
After that, the Cikeas Village Government promptly acted to meet the Desa BRILiaN participation requirements, including opening a BRI account under the BUMDes name.
‘We then followed the steps, starting with formal administrative procedures and registration. Then daily training sessions,’ said Hasan Sadili, Village Planning Officer of Cikeas, during an interview at the Cikeas Village Office in Sukaraja, Bogor Regency, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
The training lasted approximately two weeks, during which village officials were introduced to BRI products and received training on SME development and BUMDes management.
The Desa BRILiaN training had a significant impact on Cikeas Village. Although not nominated, the village continued its pre-existing SME digitalisation programme.
The SME digitalisation in Cikeas includes guidance to integrate products into Google’s ecosystem, ensuring business names appear in search results.
Additionally, SME operators are guided to create Instagram accounts and food delivery app profiles, while non-food businesses are introduced to e-commerce platforms.
‘This expands their market beyond Cikeas to reach new customers,’ Hasan said.
Following the Desa BRILiaN programme, the SME digitalisation initiative has expanded. Cikeas now selects 20 out of approximately 200 registered businesses for branding and packaging training.
‘We’ve named this the Cikeas Village SME Market Programme,’ Hasan added.
Most Cikeas SMEs operate in food production, particularly flour-based products. The digitalisation programme has increased villagers’ digital literacy and expanded product market reach.
Additionally, Hasan noted that BRI fully supports Cikeas SMEs, serving as the most accessible banking service for local businesses.
‘Most Cikeas SMEs use BRI’s KUR (People’s Business Credit) for business development,’ Hasan said.
Hasan highlighted that easy banking access greatly assists the community, with BRILink agents in the village eliminating the need for residents to travel far to banks.
‘There’s also BRILink. So if people don’t have ATM access, they can use it there. They can even deposit savings,’ he added.
The BUMDes egg-laying business has flourished following Desa BRILiaN participation. BUMDes Cikeas now focuses on poultry farming.
‘We joined Desa BRILiaN from July to August, and the BUMDes began operations in October 2025,’ Hasan said.
Currently, 10 staff members manage the egg-laying business, which has become more productive since February 2026.
The business generates daily revenue of Rp 1 million, with net profits of Rp 10 million monthly.
Profits are reinvested into business development, with 25% contributing to the Village Original Revenue (PADes).
Hasan stated daily egg production reaches 40-70 kilograms, typically purchased by local SMEs.
‘Sometimes outsiders can’t get them as they sell out quickly,’ he added.
Looking ahead, Cikeas aims to become a tourist village, enhancing agricultural and livestock potential to boost community economy.
‘We aim to manage a tourist ecosystem in Cikeas from 2026 onwards, directing efforts to attract external tourists and support the local economy,’ Hasan said.
Meanwhile, BRI Unit Cimahpar Officer Win Zikra stated that BRI’s ecosystem has entered Cikeas Village, from KUR funding to the Desa BRILiaN programme, all aimed at supporting productive community businesses.
BRI continues SME digitalisation education, including promoting BRImo for convenient banking services.
‘This ensures better village-banking collaboration in future,’ Win said during the interview in Cikeas.
Win, who has overseen Cikeas since 2024, noted significant progress in digital banking ecosystems, particularly after the village joined the Desa BRILiaN mentoring programme.
‘There are mutual support programmes between BRI and the village,’ Win said.
He hopes BRI and Cikeas’ collaboration will strengthen further, with BRI’s capital assistance helping local businesses grow.
‘We hope for even better cooperation in areas like capital, digital education, and new BRI programmes to share with Cikeas SMEs,’ Win added.
