Cianjur Reports 8,257 Sacrificial Animals, DPKHP Confirms Health and Slaughter Conditions
The number of sacrificial animals circulating in Cianjur Regency, West Java, stands at 8,257 head. The local Animal Health and Fisheries Department (DPKHP) has confirmed all animals are in good health.
Kharisudin, a Veterinary Officer with the Cianjur Regency DPKHP, stated that based on field data and reports, this year’s sacrificial animals total 8,257 head, comprising 3,520 cattle, 3,940 sheep, 777 goats, and 20 buffaloes.
‘Typically, by H-1 before slaughter, there are no more sacrificial animals circulating. This data is final,’ Kharisudin said on Thursday (28 May).
He confirmed all sacrificial animals have undergone health checks, with no signs of diseases such as anthrax, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), or lumpy skin disease (LSD), also known as lato-lato.
Each animal that passes inspection is labelled to assure the public they are fit for slaughter and consumption.
‘Overall condition is good; the only issues are due to travel fatigue,’ he added.
The DPKHP is currently focusing on post-mortem checks of the meat, with no unfit meat found so far.
‘Currently, the focus is on post-mortem examinations,’ Kharisudin concluded. (H-2)
