Cianjur Regency Receives Waste-to-Briquette Processing Equipment from Provincial Government
The Cianjur Regency Government in West Java has received waste-to-briquette processing equipment with a capacity of five tonnes per day from the provincial government, with similar assistance also provided to other regencies and cities in the province.
Head of Cianjur’s Environment Department, Komarudin, stated the equipment will be placed in Sayang Village, which consistently produces high daily waste volumes. Waste-to-briquette processing will be handled by Community Self-Help Groups (KSM) and waste banks under the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) principle.
“For the initial phase, the equipment will be stored in Sayang Village, where daily waste generation is high. Further assistance will be allocated to other areas with similarly high waste volumes,” Komarudin said.
Regarding the Waste-to-Electricity (PSEL) programme, expected to commence in 2029, the Cianjur Environment Department must supply approximately 350 tonnes of waste daily for renewable electricity generation.
Pending the programme’s launch, West Java’s governor has provided waste-to-briquette equipment to several regencies and cities, with funds allocated next year for 50 additional units.
“We hope for additional equipment next year to process waste in high-volume areas such as Ciranjang and Cipanas,” he added.
The department is also intensifying household waste segregation of organic and sellable plastics to reduce the volume entering the Mekarsari Final Waste Processing Facility in Cikalongkulon.
