Cianjur Police Deploy Traffic Management Teams to Prevent Puncak Congestion
Cianjur - Cianjur Police Regional Office in West Java has deployed traffic dispersal teams at several high-risk points along the main Puncak-Cianjur route during the extended Idul Adha holiday to prevent total congestion amid a surge in vehicle numbers. Cianjur Police Traffic Chief AKP Aang Andi Suhandi stated on Thursday that dozens of personnel have been deployed to manage traffic flow, particularly at high-risk spots such as Hanjawar junction, Cibodas, and Cipanas Market. Officers coordinate with traffic dispersal teams when long queues with slow-moving vehicles are observed, allowing for roadblocks and traffic diversions, including temporary one-way systems. ‘Around 70 officers have been deployed across multiple points to ensure smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Idul Adha holiday period, including having traffic dispersal teams ready to implement various measures when queues form,’ he said. Officers and traffic dispersal teams are stationed at these locations, including Cipanas Market, to prevent vehicle queues from extending and causing congestion, especially during morning and evening peaks. He noted that heavy traffic heading to tourist spots, hotels, and restaurants in the Puncak-Cipanas area causes slow-moving queues, prompting roadblocks and traffic management measures during peak hours. ‘Many vehicles entering and exiting tourist spots, restaurants, and hotels in the Puncak-Cipanas area cause temporary slowdowns, but these do not last long or extend significantly,’ he added. Data shows that during weekends and extended holidays, particularly major religious festivals, the Puncak route frequently experiences congestion. For instance, during the May 2026 Ascension Day long weekend, approximately 220,000 to 320,000 vehicles traversed the area over the holiday period. On peak days, around 45,000 vehicles enter the area daily, while returning traffic towards Jakarta can reach approximately 44,000 vehicles per day.
