Cianjur Extends Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Status Until April 2026
Cianjur Regency, West Java, continues to maintain a hydrometeorological disaster emergency status. In accordance with the Regent’s Decree, the emergency status for hydrometeorological disasters will be in effect until 30 April 2026.
Secretary of the Cianjur Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Asep Sudrajat, stated that the declaration of the hydrometeorological disaster emergency status is based on BMKG predictions and a similar status at the provincial level. This means that the potential for rain that could lead to hydrometeorological disasters is expected to persist until April 2026.
“Up to now, the hydrometeorological disaster emergency status remains in place. We have set it until April 2026,” said Asep on Monday (30/3).
Regarding the potential for a dry season, Asep emphasised that BPBD is still awaiting further information from BMKG and the West Java Provincial BPBD. BMKG predicts that the dry season in Indonesia will occur in June or July 2026.
“If predicted, the dry season will happen in June or July. But we are waiting for further information,” he added.
Asep has not confirmed whether the hydrometeorological disaster emergency status will be extended or not. According to him, a study is needed to assess the possibility of extending the hydrometeorological disaster emergency status.
“It is possible that the hydrometeorological disaster emergency status could be extended. But of course, it cannot be done arbitrarily. A study is needed to decide it,” Asep stressed.
Asep assured that, regardless of the weather conditions, BPBD must remain vigilant and anticipate potential risks. This includes preparing for the potential dry season, as BPBD has already coordinated across sectors.
“For example, with Perumdam Tirta Mukti, we will coordinate regarding the provision of water stocks to anticipate potential drought or water crisis during the dry season,” he concluded.
