Cianjur BPBD maps 20 disaster-prone points along routes for mudik
Dozens of hazard points for landslides and ground movement are located in the districts of Campaka, Campakamulya, Sukanagara, Cijati, Leles and Takokak. In Cianjur, West Java (ANTARA), the Cianjur Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has mapped 20 disaster-prone route points that motorists must watch as they pass, especially homebound travellers, from the northern to southern parts of Cianjur. Secretary of the Cianjur BPBD Asep Sudrajat in Cianjur, on Tuesday, said the dozens of points are spread from the Puncak-Cipanas area to Cugenang, with most located on the main southern routes from Campaka to Naringgul. Dozens of hazard points for landslides and ground movement exist in the districts of Campaka, Campakamulya, Sukanagara, Cijati, Leles and Takokak, so the public, including travellers, are urged to stay alert and careful while passing through. “BMKG information indicates extreme weather continues to affect Cianjur until April 2026, so during the Lebaran mudik season we have mapped several areas that mudik travellers must watch from north to south,” he said. They have mobilised all staff and 360 volunteers across districts and villages to monitor and report, and to take swift action including evacuating residents when signs of a disaster are observed. This includes coordinating with relevant agencies at provincial and national levels to mobilise heavy equipment at several vulnerable points from the Puncak-Cianjur area, Sukanagara, Sindangbarang and Naringgul to enable rapid response when a disaster occurs. “We have asked the relevant departments up to the ministries to mobilise heavy equipment at several landslide-prone points along Cianjur’s mudik routes to ensure rapid response when disasters strike,” he said. They note there are 20 landslide-prone points along Cianjur’s mudik routes from north to south, necessitating swift action, especially when a landslide blocks the road surface. “We urge mudik travellers passing through Cianjur to remain vigilant along the disaster-prone routes; if heavy rain begins, it is better to stop at a safe place before continuing,” he said.
