China ends Indonesian run
JAKARTA (JP): China strolled to a thumping win and a sweet revenge over Indonesia in the world dragon boat championships in Yue Yang, China, on Sunday.
Playing before their home crowd, the spirited Chinese scullers won all of the eight gold medals up for grabs. Indonesia, fresh from its two victories in Singapore and Hong Kong, brought home two silvers and a bronze.
The Indonesian team, warming up for the Southeast Asian Games in December, had outsprinted China in Hong Kong last week.
"We have to clock a convincing time to unanimously beat home favorite China," national coach Ismail Karback was quoted by Antara as saying. The biennial world dragon boat races will move to Hong Kong in 1997. (amd)
