China Allocates 99.9 Billion Yuan for Childcare Subsidies in 2026
China’s Ministry of Finance has allocated 99.9 billion yuan (approximately 14.65 billion US dollars) in central government funds for childcare subsidies this year, marking a 10.6 per cent increase compared to 2025, as part of efforts to support the national childcare subsidy system. According to the ministry, when combined with funds from local governments, the total subsidy for 2026 is expected to reach around 110 billion yuan. The distribution of subsidies is currently progressing steadily, with health authorities at various levels of government responsible for the review and disbursement process. China’s Ministry of Finance stated it will continue to work with the National Health Commission (NHC) to strictly manage the funds, strengthen oversight, and help build a society that is friendly towards childbirth.
