Sumedang Regency Government is acting swiftly to address rising prices of essential goods following Idul Adha. Commodities such as chilli, cooking oil, and beef have continued to see price increases, posing challenges to regional economic stability.

Sumedang Deputy Regent Muhammad Fajar Aldila stressed that cross-sector collaboration is key to controlling inflation. He made the statement during a regional inflation control coordination meeting involving all local government units and relevant stakeholders.

“Inflation control must be a collective effort. All parties must act swiftly to ensure smooth distribution, sufficient stock, and controlled prices to keep the public at ease,” Fajar Aldila said on Friday, 29 May 2026.

He instructed his team to strengthen on-ground monitoring to prevent disruptions in the supply chain of strategic commodities. While some prices have risen, Fajar noted that other items such as chicken eggs, chicken meat, and granulated sugar remain relatively stable.

Sumedang Regional Secretary Tuti Ruswati added that measures taken must be measured and collaborative. A key focus is leveraging Sumedang’s potential as a “champion” region and major producer of chilli.

“Sumedang is a chilli champion region. Therefore, distribution from farmers to markets must be strengthened to maintain stable prices, benefiting both farmers and consumers,” Tuti explained.

The Sumedang Regency Government is committed to continuing market interventions through affordable bazaars to ensure the public can access essential goods at fair prices amid post-religious holiday market fluctuations.
