JAKARTA (JP): A total of 165 paintings are on display at Bentara Budaya, Jl. Palmerah Selatan, Central Jakarta.

The exhibition, organized jointly by PT Grasindo, a subsidiary of PT Gramedia publishing company, with Yogyakarta-based Melati Suci atelier, opened yesterday and will continue through April 14.

The exhibition features the works of children from the Melati Suci atelier.

Among them are award-winner paintings of Intan Sari Dewi, 7, entitled Enikki, Japanese for illustrated diary, which won the Grand Prix award of the Asian Children's Art III Festival in Japan in 1993. Intan is also Indonesia's youngest stamp designer after her painting I feed a chicken was used by the state-owned postal company in 1991. She is also showing her other paintings.

Another star painter is Ronny Lesmana, who won a prize from the Geneva-based International Telecommunication Union in 1991 in a art competition with the painting entitled Teenagers in the age of electronics.

Melati Suci atelier was established in 1979 by A. Hari Santosa. (als)
