National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conducted a direct inspection of Eid holiday travel preparations at Purabaya Type A Terminal in Sidoarjo, East Java on Sunday (15 March 2026). General Sigit instructed all personnel on duty to provide the best service for travellers.

During his inspection, General Sigit revealed that passenger numbers at Purabaya Terminal have shown a significant upward trend. He reported that increases have occurred over the past week.

“Overall, we can see that passenger numbers have begun to increase by approximately 30 per cent over the past seven days and are continuing to rise. The peak will occur between 17 and 20 March,” said General Sigit after inspecting the terminal.

The former Criminal Investigation Bureau head also directly monitored the vehicle roadworthiness inspection process and driver health checks, including urine and alcohol tests. This was emphasised as a crucial step to reduce accident rates during the holiday period.

“It is important that passenger safety, including driver safety, is properly maintained. Our hope is that travellers can reach their homes safely to meet their families and share happiness. Therefore, I ask all personnel on duty to provide the best service,” he stressed.

General Sigit also instructed his personnel to work with all stakeholders to respond quickly to any complaints from the public to ensure the holiday service runs optimally. This is to realise the 2026 holiday tagline: ‘Safe Travel, Happy Families’.

During the inspection, the Police Chief took time to greet travellers on buses and distribute gift packages. To bus drivers, he delivered a special message to always maintain their physical condition and prioritise passenger safety.

“I have a message for drivers: be careful on the road because you are carrying passengers and must protect their safety. If you are tired, take a rest. I request that backup drivers be prepared so we can avoid unwanted situations on the road,” concluded the Police Chief.

Accompanying the Police Chief were several senior officials from National Police Headquarters, including Chief of Intelligence Komjen Yuda Gustawan, Operations Assistant to the Police Chief Komjen Mohamad Fadil Imran, Human Resources Assistant Irjen Anwar, Head of Public Relations Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, and Head of Traffic Directorate Irjen Agus Suryonugroho.
