Chery has confirmed that its latest model, the Chery Q, will be produced locally as soon as it is officially launched in Indonesia. The move will be implemented through a completely knocked down (CKD) scheme as part of the company’s commitment to supporting the national automotive industry.

Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia, said that all Chery models marketed in Indonesia are currently assembled domestically, including the Chery Q. He noted that Chery chose the CKD scheme because it is seen as capable of creating more jobs and strengthening the national automotive industry. ‘So all the models we bring to Indonesia, all are produced here,’ he said.

Setia Diarta, Director General of the Industrial sector within the Ministry of Industry (ILMATE) commented that the government supports Chery’s efforts to bring environmentally friendly vehicles to Indonesia. ‘We highly appreciate the steps taken by Chery Motor Indonesia and its support for the government in delivering greener vehicles,’ he said. ‘The production of the Chery Q continues the success of eco-friendly products introduced by Chery Motor Indonesia through the Chery brand and its sister brands,’ he added. ‘Furthermore, we commend Chery’s Domestic Component Level (TKDN) achievement of 40 percent for its Indonesia-produced products.’ According to Setia, this level helps strengthen the supply chain and the ecosystem of the national automotive industry. ‘This contributes to strengthening the ecosystem and the supply chain of domestically produced automotive products,’ he said.
