SINGAPORE (AP): Singapore Airlines (SIA) has advised its passengers bound for the United States to check in at least three hours before departure due to stringent security checks at Singapore's international airport.
The airline has hired security personnel to open and inspect departing passengers' check-in luggage at the airport, Singapore Airlines spokesman Derek Chia said on Sunday.
Singapore Airlines passengers who transit through Changi Airport en route to the United States must claim their luggage, have it inspected and check in again, Chia added.
Singapore Airlines, the country's national carrier, resumed normal U.S. flight schedules on Saturday.
Northwest Airlines and United Airlines also resumed flights from Singapore to the United States on Saturday, said Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore spokesman Albert Tjoeng.
