Central Kalimantan Intensifies Efforts to Attract Investors for Economic Growth and Job Creation
Jakarta – Central Kalimantan Governor H. Agustiar Sabran held a key coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM offices in Jakarta on Tuesday (15/7/2025).
The meeting focused on in-depth discussions regarding Central Kalimantan's considerable potential for investment development, particularly in the mineral natural resources and agricultural sectors.
Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu highlighted Central Kalimantan as one of the regions with abundant mineral reserves and agricultural potential. "We welcome the visit of the Central Kalimantan Governor and his delegation. Central Kalimantan has a promising downstreaming strategy, and we have even referred an investor to develop an industrial estate there," he said.
He explained that the industrial estate would integrate downstreaming and smelting processes, particularly for processing bauxite into alumina and aluminium, as well as silica mineral downstreaming. In addition, Central Kalimantan is rich in coal, copper-gold, and palm oil agriculture.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Pasaribu emphasised the importance of logistics infrastructure strategy to maximise the utilisation of Central Kalimantan's natural resources for global competitiveness. He added that the province also has potential for a 500 MW hydroelectric power plant.
**Positive Impact of Investment: Job Absorption and Regional Revenue**
According to Deputy Minister Pasaribu, investment potential in Central Kalimantan is enormous in terms of creating employment and increasing regional revenue. "A single industrial estate in Central Kalimantan has the potential to absorb hundreds of thousands of workers. We hope for acceleration in investment realisation and development absorption," he said.
In response, Governor H. Agustiar Sabran stated that enhancing the integrity of the downstreaming process is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita vision for achieving Golden Indonesia 2045. "We are very enthusiastic about promoting Central Kalimantan's natural resources for Indonesia's future. We greatly need investment so that regional revenue continues to grow, as already evident from the first quarter which reached Rp7 trillion," the Governor concluded.
The Governor expressed hope that this investment could be realised promptly through sound cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM.
