Central Kalimantan Intensifies Efforts to Attract Investors, Boost Economy and Employment
JAKARTA – Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran is becoming increasingly aggressive in attracting investment to advance his region. Most recently, Sabran held a coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM office on Tuesday (15/7/2025).
The meeting focused on discussing Central Kalimantan's considerable potential for investment development, particularly in the mineral natural resources and agricultural sectors.
Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu highlighted Central Kalimantan as one of the regions with abundant mineral resource reserves and agricultural potential. "We warmly welcome the visit of the Central Kalimantan Governor and his delegation. Central Kalimantan has a promising downstreaming strategy, and we have even referred an investor to develop an industrial estate there," he said.
He explained that the industrial estate would integrate downstreaming and smelting processes, particularly for processing bauxite into alumina and aluminium, as well as silica mineral downstreaming. Additionally, Central Kalimantan is rich in coal, copper-gold, and palm oil agriculture.
Deputy Minister Pasaribu also emphasised the importance of logistics infrastructure strategy to maximise the utilisation of Central Kalimantan's natural resources for global competitiveness. He noted that the province also has hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) potential with a capacity of 500 MW.
According to Deputy Minister Pasaribu, the investment potential in Central Kalimantan is enormous in terms of creating employment and increasing regional revenue.
