Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran continues to strengthen strategic measures to attract large-scale investment in order to accelerate regional economic development.

At the offices of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM, Agustiar held a coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, on Tuesday, 15 July 2025. The meeting was convened to discuss the strengthening of the natural resources downstream sector and the development of industrial zones.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Todotua described Central Kalimantan as one of the regions with enormous potential, particularly in strategic minerals, agriculture, and renewable energy.

"Central Kalimantan has extraordinary mineral reserves and agricultural potential. We have referred investors to build an integrated industrial zone encompassing bauxite smelting, silica downstream processing, as well as coal and palm oil processing," he said.

Furthermore, the planned industrial zone will integrate downstream processing and logistics infrastructure to boost global competitiveness. Central Kalimantan is even projected to develop a 500 MW hydroelectric power plant as a green energy source to support industrial activities.

Deputy Minister Todotua emphasised that investment in Central Kalimantan would not only increase economic output but also create hundreds of thousands of jobs and strengthen locally generated revenue (PAD).

"This industrial zone has the potential to absorb a massive workforce. Accelerated realisation is urgently needed to support national strategic programmes," he explained.

In response, Governor Agustiar Sabran affirmed that the downstream strategy is aligned with the grand vision of President Prabowo Subianto's administration in realising Golden Indonesia 2045.

"We are very enthusiastic about making Central Kalimantan a national centre for natural resource processing. Our regional revenue in the first quarter has already surpassed Rp7 trillion, and we will continue to push this through concrete investment partnerships," he stated.

Agustiar expressed hope that all this potential could be promptly followed up through close partnership with the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM.
