Central Kalimantan Governor Steps Up Investment Drive with Deputy Minister Meeting
Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran is becoming increasingly aggressive in attracting investment to develop his region. On Tuesday, Sabran held a coordination meeting to discuss a number of important matters with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu.
The coordination meeting, held at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM office, focused on Central Kalimantan's significant potential for investment development, particularly in the mineral natural resources and agricultural sectors.
Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu highlighted Central Kalimantan as one of the regions with abundant mineral natural resource reserves and agricultural potential.
"We welcome the visit of the Central Kalimantan Governor and his delegation. Central Kalimantan has a promising downstream processing strategy, and we have even referred an investor to develop an industrial estate there," said Deputy Minister Pasaribu.
He explained that the industrial estate would integrate downstream processing and smelting operations, particularly for processing bauxite into alumina and aluminium, as well as downstream processing of silica minerals. In addition, Central Kalimantan is also rich in coal, copper-gold, and palm oil agriculture.
Deputy Minister Pasaribu also emphasised the importance of logistics infrastructure strategy to maximise the utilisation of Central Kalimantan's natural resources in order to achieve global competitiveness.
