Central Kalimantan Governor monitors Tjilik Riwut Airport to ensure smooth Lebaran homecoming travel
Palangka Raya — Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran monitored Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangka Raya city to ensure passenger comfort and smooth travel flow during the Lebaran 1447 Hijri homecoming period.
“Today, passenger traffic at Tjilik Riwut Airport appears to have become quite busy during the Lebaran homecoming period. We want to ensure smooth and comfortable operations,” Agustiar explained during his inspection on Saturday.
He assessed that passenger movement at Tjilik Riwut Airport was proceeding relatively smoothly, especially supported by adequate facilities from the airport operator, so despite the beginning of increased passenger congestion, conditions remained conducive.
During his monitoring at the airport, the governor directly inspected the homecoming traffic checkpoint, departure area, waiting area and passenger arrival zone.
“The government, together with cross-sector stakeholders, will certainly be present, not only to maintain comfort and security, but also from a health perspective,” said Agustiar.
Acting General Manager of Tjilik Riwut Airport Branch Office I Made Darmawan stated that the homecoming travel atmosphere at the airport has begun to be felt today.
“There has already been an increase of approximately five to seven percent from normal days,” he said.
Movement on normal days reaches 2,000 to 2,200 passengers daily, whilst yesterday’s movement already reached 2,400 passengers. Today is estimated to increase by around 100 passengers, reaching approximately 2,500 passengers.
I Made conveyed that the predicted peak of homecoming travel at Tjilik Riwut Airport is on 18 March 2026, with movement estimated to reach 4,100 passengers.
“Besides Jakarta and Surabaya, other routes include Semarang and Yogyakarta,” he explained.
