Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran has donated 20 hectares of his personal land located in West Kotawaringin Regency as a site for the development of Garuda School, a flagship educational institution initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

This step was taken as a form of synergy between the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government and the central government’s vision in strengthening the quality of human resources to produce globally competitive youth.

Agustiar stated that the development of Garuda School is a vital component of the region’s efforts to align with President Prabowo’s education roadmap.

“This is a concrete expression of our support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programme to strengthen education quality and prepare the next generation. Central Kalimantan is ready to be part of this major effort,” Agustiar said in a statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

On the 20-hectare donated land, Garuda School is planned to be developed as a modern education centre. The school will not only be equipped with a high-quality learning system but also support facilities that encourage student innovation and character development.

The presence of Garuda School in West Kotawaringin is projected to become a catalyst for quality education access, particularly for the Central Kalimantan region and central Indonesia. The school is expected to identify and develop local young talent so they can compete at national and international levels.

The Garuda School Transformation programme is designed to strengthen leading secondary schools across Indonesia to reach world-class education standards. School development can involve new construction or the transformation of existing schools. The Garuda School initiative is also designed to provide equal access for all Indonesian children, including girls.
