Central Kalimantan Governor Discusses Investment Potential with Deputy Minister of Investment
Central Kalimantan Governor H. Agustiar Sabran held a coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM office in Jakarta on Tuesday (15/7/2025). The meeting focused on Central Kalimantan's significant potential for investment development, particularly in the mineral natural resources and agricultural sectors.
Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu highlighted Central Kalimantan as one of the regions with abundant mineral reserves and agricultural potential. "We welcome the visit of the Central Kalimantan Governor and his delegation. Central Kalimantan has a promising downstreaming strategy, and we have even referred an investor to develop an industrial estate there," he said.
He explained that the industrial estate would integrate downstreaming and smelting processes, particularly for processing bauxite into alumina and aluminium, as well as silica mineral downstreaming. Additionally, Central Kalimantan is rich in coal, copper-gold, and palm oil agriculture.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu emphasised the importance of logistics infrastructure strategy to maximise the utilisation of Central Kalimantan's natural resources for global competitiveness. He added that the province also has potential for a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) with a capacity of 500 MW.
According to Deputy Minister Todotua Pasaribu, the investment potential in Central Kalimantan is enormous in terms of creating employment and increasing regional revenue. "A single industrial estate in Central Kalimantan has the potential to absorb hundreds of thousands of workers. We hope for an acceleration in investment realisation and development absorption," he said.
In response, Governor H. Agustiar Sabran stated that the enhanced integrity of the downstreaming process is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita programme in realising Golden Indonesia 2045. "We are very enthusiastic about promoting Central Kalimantan's natural resources for Indonesia's future. We greatly need investment so that regional revenue continues to increase, as already demonstrated by the first quarter which reached Rp7 trillion," the Governor concluded.
The Governor expressed hope that this investment could be realised promptly through good cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM.
