PALANGKA RAYA – Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran attended a coordination meeting with Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Processing/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Processing/BKPM office in Jakarta recently.

The meeting discussed investment development in Central Kalimantan, particularly in the mineral natural resources and agriculture sectors.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Todotua assessed that Central Kalimantan holds significant potential in supporting the national downstream processing agenda.

"Central Kalimantan has a very promising downstream processing strategy. We have even recommended an investor to develop an industrial estate there," said Todotua Pasaribu on Tuesday (15/7).

He explained that the proposed industrial estate would integrate downstream processing and smelting operations, such as processing bauxite into alumina and aluminium, as well as silica minerals. Beyond that, Central Kalimantan is also rich in coal, copper-gold, and palm oil commodities.

In addition to resource potential, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening logistics infrastructure to ensure Central Kalimantan's global competitiveness. He noted that the province's hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) potential could reach a capacity of up to 500 MW.

"The investment potential in Central Kalimantan is enormous. A single industrial estate could absorb hundreds of thousands of workers. The hope is for an acceleration in investment realisation and development absorption," Todotua Pasaribu explained.

In response, Governor Agustiar Sabran stated that Central Kalimantan is fully prepared to support the national downstream processing strategy, as outlined in President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita vision towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

"We are very enthusiastic about promoting Central Kalimantan's natural resource potential for Indonesia's future. We desperately need investment so that regional revenue continues to grow. In the first quarter alone, it has already reached Rp7 trillion," he said.
