Central Java tax income below par

BANYUMAS, Central Java: Awareness of the need to pay land and property tax is still low in the Banyumas district.

Head of the Banyumas revenue agency Suroso told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday that only eight of 329 villages in the district had paid their dues since the start of the 2000 fiscal year in April.

Revenue from these taxes totaled Rp 945.9 million, while their targeted revenue was Rp 6.9 billion.

The eight villages are Mandirancan, Tumiyang, Gambarsari, Sambeng Wetan, Karangsoka, Pesawahan, Karangtalun Lor, and Jurangbehas. (45/10)
