The Central Java Provincial Government is racing to complete the patching of 924 potholes across Central Java before Eid al-Fitr (the day before the holiday). This effort aims to provide safety and comfort to those travelling home for the holiday period.

Henggar Budi Anggoro, Head of the Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (DPUPR) of Central Java, stated that pothole repairs are being carried out intensively across all provincial roads. He noted that by mid-March 2026, tens of thousands of damaged points had been addressed.

“Overall, the number of potholes we have already tackled reaches 25,323 sites. The latest update shows approximately 924 holes remaining. Hopefully we can complete this before the day before Eid,” said Henggar on Sunday (15 March 2026).

The areas with the most potholes are scattered across several regions in Central Java, including Semarang, Tegal, Pati, and Purwodadi. Henggar explained that pothole patching activities are conducted daily by eight road management centres operating under the Provincial DPUPR. Personnel will remain on standby until approaching Eid al-Fitr.

“Our teams will continue working until the day before Eid. If new potholes are found, they will be dealt with immediately. We will only take leave from the day before Eid until two days after,” said Henggar.

He stated that to accelerate emergency repairs, the Provincial DPUPR has prepared cold mix asphalt materials at various centres. This material allows for immediate patching when new damage is discovered on provincial roads.

“We are conducting these repairs across all provincial roads, including routes that serve as access to tourism destinations,” said Henggar.
