Central Java Provincial Government Prepares 346 Buses and 17 Trains for Free Return-Home Transport, Departing from Jakarta and Bandung

The Central Java Provincial Government will organise a free return-home transport programme with departures from Jakarta and Bandung. A total of 346 buses and 17 train sets have been prepared for the implementation of this programme.

Based on data from the Central Java Provincial Liaison Agency, the free return-home programme will be implemented on 16 and 17 March 2026. Of the total 346 buses prepared, 323 of them with a capacity of 16,086 seats will depart from Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Meanwhile, the remaining 23 buses with a capacity of 1,133 seats will depart from Bandung, West Java.

The free return-home transport using trains will be implemented on 17 March 2026. There are a total of 17 train sets with a capacity of 1,288 seats. They will be divided into two departures: the first will be eight train sets or 576 seats from Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta to Solo Balapan Station using KA Jaka Tingkir, and one additional train set with 72 seats.

Secondly, eight train sets with a capacity of 640 seats will depart from Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta to Poncol Station in Semarang using KA Tawang Jaya. Following his leadership of the Central Java Regional Coordination Meeting in preparation for Eid 2026 on Monday (9 March 2026), Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stated that the number of return-home travellers entering Central Java is estimated to surge to more than 17 million people.

β€œThe prediction (for the number of return-home travellers) this year is increasing by 30 percent, which is 17.3 million people who will eventually enter the Central Java region,” said Luthfi.
