Central Java Province Accelerates Repair of 924 Road Potholes
The Central Java provincial government is targeting completion of repairs to 924 pothole sites across provincial roads before Eid eve. This initiative is being undertaken to ensure the safety and comfort of the public travelling during the Lebaran holiday exodus.
The Head of the Central Java Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, Henggar Budi Anggoro, stated that road repairs are being conducted intensively across all provincial road sections. Henggar noted that by mid-March 2026, tens of thousands of road damage points had been addressed.
“Overall, the number of potholes that we have addressed has reached 25,323 points. The latest update shows approximately 924 potholes remaining. Hopefully, they can all be completed before Eid eve,” Henggar said on Sunday (15/3/2026).
Henggar explained that the areas with the highest concentration of potholes are in several districts, including Semarang, Tegal, Pati, and Purwodadi. Road patching is being carried out daily by eight road management centres operating under the Central Java Provincial Public Works office.
“Our teams will continue working until Eid eve. If any new potholes are discovered, they are addressed immediately. Holidays only occur from Eid eve until two days after Eid,” Henggar said.
To accelerate emergency repairs, the Central Java Provincial Public Works office has stockpiled cold-mix asphalt materials at several centres. This material allows for immediate patching when new damage is discovered on provincial roads.
“We are conducting repairs across all provincial roads, including routes that serve as access to tourist attractions,” Henggar said.
