Central Java Police to Expand Safehouse 110 Programme into Places of Worship and Community Offices
The Central Java Regional Police is set to make a breakthrough in public protection systems by developing the Safehouse 110 programme. These safe houses will not only be located at police stations but will also be present in locations very close to community activities, ranging from places of worship to the offices of community organisations.
This programme is designed as a humanity-based protection platform for residents facing threats, security disturbances, or emergency situations. The announcement was made during a virtual socialisation session led by the Central Java Police Director of Community Guidance, Senior Commissioner Siti Rondhijah, at the Central Java Police Command Center on Wednesday.
“The Safehouse 110 concept will be developed in several strategic locations, such as places of worship, community organisation offices, meeting halls, and other places easily accessible to the public. Each location will later be equipped with a banner reading ‘Safehouse 110’ as a marker of the safe house’s existence,” she stated.
One crucial point of this programme is the opening of opportunities for the public to become humanitarian volunteers. These volunteers will receive professional training to provide optimal service when residents seek protection at the Safehouse points. The socialisation also involved various stakeholders, including the Central Java Ministry of Religion, the Social Service, the Religious Harmony Forum, and the Indonesian Mosque Council. This demonstrates that the security aspect is now becoming an inclusive collective responsibility.
Central Java Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Artanto, added that the presence of community police officers at the village level will be the key to the programme’s success. “Community police officers are the vanguard connecting the public with the Safehouse 110 network. This is a tangible manifestation of the National Police becoming closer and more beneficial,” he asserted. The Central Java Police Community Guidance Directorate is currently conducting data collection and technical preparation ahead of the official launch. This programme is expected to become a symbol of social solidarity in Central Java, creating an environment responsive to security threats and social protection needs.
