Central Java Named Third Best in Inflation Control
Central Java province has received the third-best award in the Inflation Control category during the 2026 Regional Outstanding Local Government Appreciation for the Java-Bali region, held at the Yogyakarta Marriott on Thursday (4/6/2026).
The award from the Ministry of Home Affairs was presented by the Chairperson of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Siti Hediati Soeharto, and received by the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi.
Following the award, Ahmad Luthfi pledged to improve future achievements by involving all community components and potential resources. He noted that the award serves as motivation for both the provincial government and the various regencies and cities within the province, stating that the provincial government cannot succeed without the involvement of regents, mayors, and even village governments.
“Inflation control is vital to ensure that the needs and purchasing power of the community are met, both in terms of the availability of essential commodities and price affordability,” he explained.
He further noted that collaboration between the Central Java Provincial Government, Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), district/city governments, village governments, and the banking sector must be maintained to ensure the smooth distribution of essential goods to consumers. “For example, we can distribute shallots and chillies to ensure affordability, which is crucial for suppressing inflation,” he added.
The Inflation Control category was particularly noteworthy as all provinces in the Java-Bali region secured awards following specific adjustments made by the assessment committee. In the Provincial Level Inflation Control category, Bali took first place, DI Yogyakarta took second, and Central Java took third.
In addition to the provincial recognition, several local governments within Central Java also received awards. Magelang City ranked first in the City-Level Unemployment Reduction category, while Surakarta City ranked second. Furthermore, Semarang City achieved third place in the city-level category for Stunting Reduction, and Sukoharjo Regency secured second place in the Regency-level Inflation Control category.
