Central Java Named Third Best in Inflation Control

Central Java Province received the award for third best in the Inflation Control category at the 2026 Java-Bali Regional Government Achievement Appreciation event, held at the Yogyakarta Marriott on Thursday night (4/6/2026). The award from the Ministry of Home Affairs was presented by the Chair of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Siti Hediati Soeharto, and accepted by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi. In response to the award, Ahmad Luthfi pledged to improve upon this achievement. He stated that his administration would involve all components and potentials within the community. Ahmad Luthfi conveyed that the award spurs hope for both the provincial and district/city governments within the region. He noted that the Central Java Provincial Government could not stand alone without the involvement of regents and mayors, extending even to village administrations. “Inflation control is crucial to ensure that the public’s needs and purchasing power are met, both in terms of the availability of essential staples and price affordability,” he explained. Collaboration between the Central Java Provincial Government, Regional-Owned Enterprises, district and city governments, village administrations, and the banking sector is necessary to ensure that the distribution of essential staples reaches consumers properly. “For example, we can distribute shallots, we can distribute chillies, so that affordability becomes key, and we can suppress inflation,” he stated. During the event, several district and city governments from Central Java also received awards. In the City-Level Unemployment Rate Reduction category, Magelang City was named best first and Surakarta City best second. Semarang City achieved third best at the city level for the Stunting Reduction category, whilst Sukoharjo Regency was named second best at the regency level for the Inflation Control category.
