Central Java hit by water shortages

SEMARANG: Several regencies in Central Java have been hit by a clean water shortage caused by the approaching dry season, Governor Mardiyanto said on Wednesday.

Among the regencies are Blora, Rembang, Klaten, Boyolali, Grobogan and Semarang, he said. "The first thing we can do now is distribute clean water to villages across the regencies."

Mardiyanto also urged residents to be thrifty in using water, as well as guard their health and watch out for possible diseases commonly found during the dry season, including diarrhea and skin ailments. (har/edt)
