Central Java Province will open integrated posts from H-8 to H+7 of Eid al-Fitr 2026 to anticipate the arrival of millions of mudik travellers. “Prediksi tahun ini sekitar 17,7 juta pemudik masuk ke Jawa Tengah, naik dari 15 juta pada 2025. Dengan jumlah sebesar itu, semua pihak harus siap karena Jateng menjadi simpul utama pergerakan mudik nasional,” Governor Ahmad Luthfi said in Semarang on Thursday (5 March 2026). The integrated posts will involve regional government agencies, police, and other stakeholders. In addition to traffic security, authorities are ensuring readiness of provincial road infrastructure, with repairs targeted for completion before H-7 Eid. The province is organising free mudik with 340 buses capable of carrying 16,415 passengers from Jakarta and Bandung on 16 March 2026. For trains, 17 train sets with a capacity of 1,288 passengers are prepared to operate from Pasar Senen Station to Solo Balapan and Semarang Poncol on 17 March 2026. “This programme is prepared to make mudik safer, more comfortable, and to reduce congestion on the roads into Central Java,” Luthfi said. He also reminded the public to check their vehicle condition and remain vigilant during the journey. The Central Java Government is monitoring hydrometeorological hazards, including floods, landslides, and Merapi activity, with focus also on the Muria Mountains area. Local authorities have prepared contingency measures through monitoring and disaster readiness. BBPJN Central Java–DIY’s mapping shows 46 chokepoints for congestion and 23 disaster-prone points on national routes ahead of the mudik period. BBPJN has prepared 18 posts along the Pantura, central, and southern routes to speed response at congestion points and areas prone to disruption. The posts are equipped with technical personnel and equipment for rapid handling of traffic disturbances or road damage. “These posts are on standby to ensure a safe and smooth Eid mudik,” said Moch Iqbal Tamher, head of BBPJN Central Java–DIY.
